Today I had an illuminating experience early in the morning. I am in the habit of going for walking or jogging early in the morn, as part of my exercise routine.
You will not beleive the sensory perceptions of early morning world..........the light is so pure so fresh..the world so calm..you are deceived into believing that there is peace in world. The breeze is pure..it caresses you as if giving you a blessing for the day.........
And on such a morning...today's morning.....i saw an old couple......the man must be at least 70 yrs of age...............tall and thin like a bamboo stick................bent from old age..but with a dignity peculiar to those who have trodden long and hard on this earth. And beside him walked his wife. short and round..dressed in a sari, with an innocence on her face which you'd not find even on a 5 yr old kid of today.
There was nothing noticeable in them........if i had seen them at some other time of the day, i would not have noticed them. but on this quiet morning.........i looked up, and there they were, walking side by side, slowly, but together.
The wife carried a potli, as is the habit of an indian villager. and when she fell behind the husband while walking, he turned and took the potli from her. He said something and she smiled up at him. and he reciprocated. and they turned at the road side and went on a different road.
i kept my eyes on them for a long time......................till they vanished.
I was touched..maybe for no reason, but i seemed so awesome to me......they made a life together and they survived it in such a way that today too they work in tandem, and are so comfortable together.
Was not it love?
I think that was love............not a gushy and terbulant emotion......but this long lasting one which withstood the corrossion of time.
